Agay: The story of Agay goes back to old greeks, and it is believed that the name designates the harbour ("Agathon" means good or favourable). Agay has known some famous inhabitants or visitors: Herg̩, Antoine de Saint-Exup̩ry, Guy de Maupassant, and the Hotel des roches Rouges was at La belle Epoque a famous departure point for excursions in Esterel mountains. A French Novel, for instance, even takes place in this Hotel lost somewhere between the sea and the mountains. Perhaps the most strange place in the bay is the"golden island" on which a caster has been built around 1900. His tour seems to have inspired Herg̩ for the "Black Island" and people says that the castle was also presumably the last image that Antoine de Saint-Exupery had from the coast before to disappear somewhere in the sea during his last flight...
